Tally — Delete Your Account & Data

This page explains how to delete your Tally account and the data associated with it. Tally is a personal balance tracker built by an independent developer.

Delete your account in the app (fastest)

If you still have Tally installed, you can delete your account and all of your data yourself. You do not need to contact anyone, and it takes effect immediately:

Open Tally and go to Settings.
Scroll to Cloud Sync.
Tap Delete account and data and confirm.

This permanently removes your account and everything stored in the cloud, on every device. It cannot be undone. You may be asked to sign in again first if you have been signed in for a long time — this is a security check to confirm it is really you.

Request deletion by email

If you have already uninstalled Tally, or you cannot reach the button above, email us instead:

Email us from the email address linked to your Tally account (Google or Apple).
Use the subject line "Delete my account and data".
Optionally include your display name so we can locate your records faster.

We will confirm your request and complete the deletion within 30 days (usually much sooner).

If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, please email us from your private relay address (the @privaterelay.appleid.com address Apple forwards for you) so we can match it to your account.

What gets deleted

Whichever route you use, we permanently remove:

Your account record and the profile information we store — display name and email address, as provided by Google or Apple when you signed in.
All of your cloud-synced data in Google Firebase Firestore — activities, projects, balances, lending records, timers, categories, and settings.

If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke the sign-in link between your Apple Account and Tally, so Tally no longer appears in your Apple Account settings.

Removing individual items, or data on your device

You don't need to delete your whole account to tidy up:

Delete or archive individual activities, projects, lending records, and transactions directly in the app (swipe to delete, or use the Remove option).
To remove data stored on this device only, sign out and clear your browser's site data / app storage.

What is kept, and retention period

Your data is deleted from our active database immediately and purged from backups within 30 days. We do not retain your personal data after deletion, except where we are required to by law.
